In the midst of the India-Pakistan conflict during Operation Sindoor in May 2025, the cast and crew of 'Daadi Ki Shaadi' found themselves in a unique and challenging situation. What began as a simple outdoor shoot in Shimla turned into a deeply memorable chapter for the film, as the team was forced to live and work in close quarters, sharing spaces and time in a way that felt unusually personal. This experience, as Kapil Sharma revealed, became a highlight for Neetu Kapoor, who cherished the simplicity and camaraderie of the arrangement. 'Neetu ma’am said that after the film 'Kabhi Kabhie', she had this much fun during a shoot,' he shared with SCREEN. 'That’s true,' Neetu agreed, 'We had so much fun during the shoot. There weren’t even enough spaces for vanity vans, and we weren’t staying in hotels either. We stayed in cottages nearby and genuinely had a great time together.'
What could have been seen as a limitation instead turned into the highlight of the schedule, helping everyone connect beyond their roles. However, the mood on set briefly shifted when news of the India-Pakistan conflict began to unfold. Ranbir Kapoor, in a worried call to Neetu, urged her to return, but she reassured him, 'This is the safest place right now, nobody is going to drop bombs here.' Her response reflected both reassurance and the calm the team tried to maintain despite the uncertainty outside.
Interestingly, the tension did not disrupt the shoot. Instead, it strengthened the team’s resolve to stay together and complete the project. 'When the war started, nobody said anything,' Neetu revealed. 'Everybody was so excited about the film and everything around it. Nobody wanted to leave.'
For Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, who is making her acting debut with the film, the experience was especially emotional. 'The film has been made with so much love that nobody wanted to leave midway and go back,' she shared. 'It truly feels surreal and deeply emotional. There’s a sense of everything coming full circle. I know my father is always with me blessing me in anything and everything that I choose to do.'
'Daadi Ki Shaadi', directed by Ashish R. Mohan, brings together a diverse ensemble including R. Sarathkumar, Yograj Singh, Tejaswini Kolhapure, Aditi Mittal and Nikhat Khan. Positioned as a family entertainer, the film explores relationships and emotions, and is slated to arrive in cinemas on May 8. But what makes this film truly special is the way it brought together a diverse group of people in the midst of a conflict, and how they managed to maintain a sense of calm and camaraderie despite the uncertainty outside. This is a testament to the power of human connection and the ability to find joy and fun in even the most challenging of circumstances.
